Conversion Tracking Services

Ad platforms optimize toward the conversions they can see, and browsers now hide a growing share of them. We set up GA4 and Tag Manager as the shared layer, pair every platform’s pixel with its server-side Conversions API, and verify each event end to end before a campaign optimizes on it.

Problem

Pixel-only tracking misses the conversions you paid for

Ad blockers, privacy settings and App Tracking Transparency drop conversion events before they reach the platform. The campaign optimizes on what is left, cost per result climbs, and the report says the channel stopped working when the tracking did.

Scope

A browser signal and a server signal for every platform

The pixel catches what the browser allows; the server-side connection sends what it does not.

What conversion tracking covers

  • One definition of a conversion

Leads, purchases and subscriptions named once, with the same values and the same rules, so every platform and every report counts the same event.

  • GA4 and Tag Manager

The shared layer under every platform: tags managed in one container, events defined once, and campaign links tagged so GA4 reports each source correctly.

  • Server-side Conversions APIs

Each platform’s pixel paired with its server-side API, sending the conversions ad blockers, privacy settings and short sessions drop — deduplicated so nothing counts twice.

  • App attribution

For iOS apps, SKAdNetwork set up so install and purchase campaigns still report results without device-level tracking.

Process

Audit, define, pair, verify

Nothing optimizes on an event until a test conversion has been traced all the way through.

  1. 01

    Audit what fires today

Every tag, pixel and conversion event checked against what actually happens on the site — duplicates, gaps and events counting the wrong thing.

  2. 02

    Define the conversions

The events that matter to the business, their values and their rules, agreed once and documented.

  3. 03

    Pair browser with server

Tag Manager and GA4 rebuilt where needed, and each ad platform’s pixel paired with its server-side API, with event IDs that let the platform deduplicate.

  4. 04

    Verify end to end

Test conversions traced from the click to each platform’s events manager and to GA4 — before any campaign is optimized toward them.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a Conversions API?

A server-to-server connection that sends conversion events from your site or backend directly to an ad platform, alongside the browser pixel. Meta and Snapchat call theirs the Conversions API and TikTok calls it the Events API; the purpose is the same — conversions the browser misses still reach the platform.

  • Why did tracking get worse after iOS 14.5?

iOS 14.5 introduced App Tracking Transparency, which lets people opt out of cross-app tracking, and browsers have tightened cookies and blocked more scripts since. Pixel-only tracking now misses a meaningful share of conversions, so platforms optimize on incomplete data.

  • Will server-side tracking double-count conversions?

Not when it is set up properly. The browser and server events carry the same event ID, and each platform deduplicates them, keeping one conversion and the most complete data from either source.

  • Does better tracking actually lower costs?

It can. Platforms optimize toward the conversions they can see; when they see more of them, delivery improves. At Pro Football Focus, Meta cost per purchase fell from $125–$140 to $60–$75 after Conversions APIs were implemented.

  • Do you set up UTM tagging too?

Yes — tagged campaign links are part of the shared layer, so GA4 assigns every visit to the right source and channel. The free UTM builder shows which GA4 channel a link will land in before you ship it.
